I had the 1st 240W Zeus that was funded from IGG. It was a great product, looking at its foot print and managed to delivered the full power as stated in their spec sheet, but I do hope in their next revision of product, they can build some short circuit protection mechanism onto the USB B port. Reason being, I had somehow inserted the USB C connector into the USB B port and it shorted the USB B and USB C-3 port all together. So now there is no power from USB B and USB C-3. I now intended to open up the charger to replaced the shorted part because a new Zeus charger is not cheap, that's where the idea of if there is some sort of short circuit protection mechanism in place (auto reset fuse when the unit is power down, etc) that would be great, but that would be the story for other time.
This is just an amazing charger. It's what I'd call a full proof charger, meaning that it's great for every day-to-day occasion, for every one of the devices that one may carry everyday. It's beefy and bulky, though thankfully it comes with a small travel bag, which is also great to keep the regional removable plugs, which, by the way, have been greatly improved in the way they´re connected to the standard US plug, compared to the previous 200W GaN Charger. The addition of the OLED screen, to keep up with charging speed in real time, while it's gimmicky it can also be useful and quite nice for the curious, since big smartphone brands like to brag about their upgraded charging speeds, even though those maximum speeds are only seldom achieved during each charging cycle.
The first Kickstarter design was genius. The style of the plug let the adaptor hug the wall, and there was a “C7" adaptor available which let you use a laptop-style power supply cord to move the charger away from the wall. While the updated design has a more intuitive and better display, the charger extends straight out from the wall and keeps falling out — so I need to use a short extension cord to lay the adaptor on a desk or the floor near the outlet. Still, 280 watts from an easy to carry small form factor device is worth the price.
Although I have only had it a couple of days, it has performed as stated. Being able to charge my MacBook Pro, iPad Pro and iPhone from the one device and at full speed is awesome. Finally, the small form factor means it fits amongst other chargers on the same power board and the travel bag will help protect it when I go away.
