Which range do I have?

We have built several magnetic cable ranges since 2016. Tips and cables are not cross-compatible between ranges. A Connect Pro tip will not work with an Infinity cable even though both carry 100W, so check which range you own before ordering a replacement.

The quickest check is to count the pins on the end of your cable and on the tip in your device.

RangeWattageStatusHow to identify it
Connect Pro100WCurrent rangeBlack and silver tip. The cable has a built in amp reader that shows the live current draw.
Infinity100WLegacy, still stocked10 pins on the cable end and 10 pins on the tip.
Uno18WLegacy, still stocked5 pins on the cable end and 5 pins on the tip, all silver.

Buying new? Choose Connect Pro. It is the range we actively develop, it carries 100W so one cable charges a phone and a laptop, and the built in amp reader shows you exactly what your device is drawing.

Replacing or adding to an older set? Order from your existing range so the tips match: Infinity or Uno.

A small tip stays in your device's charging port. The cable snaps onto the tip with a magnet, so you can connect it with one hand and the port is no longer plugged and unplugged every day.

Our Connect Pro cables carry up to 100W over USB-C, enough for a phone and a laptop. The cables from 1.2m up have a built-in meter that shows the wattage your device is drawing.

Tips come in USB-C, Lightning and Micro USB. The cable set includes one tip of your choice, and extra tips are sold separately.

Magnetic Charging Cable FAQs

Which magnetic charging cable should I buy?

If you are buying for the first time, the Connect Pro cable set. It comes with a 1.2m cable, one magnetic tip of your choice and a cord wrap, and it carries up to 100W over USB-C, so the same cable charges a phone and a laptop. If you already own Infinity or Uno cables, buy from that range so your tips match.

Is a magnetic charger the same as a magnetic charging cable?

People use both names for two different things. A magnetic charging cable is a wired charger: a small magnetic tip stays in the port and the cable snaps onto it. A wireless magnetic charger, such as a MagSafe pad, sticks to the back of the phone and charges without a plug. Everything on this page is the wired kind. That is why a Connect Pro cable can carry up to 100W and charge a laptop as well as a phone.

Can a magnetic cable charge a laptop?

Yes, if it is rated for it. Connect Pro and Infinity cables carry up to 100W over USB-C, which is full speed for a MacBook Air, a 14-inch MacBook Pro and most USB-C laptops. A 16-inch MacBook Pro fast charges at 140W, so on a 100W cable it charges at up to 100W. Uno cables are 18W and are for phones.

Does the cable come with a magnetic tip?

The Connect Pro cable set includes one tip, in your choice of USB-C, Lightning or Micro USB. Cables sold on their own do not include a tip. Extra tips are sold separately, so you can leave one in each device and move one cable between them.

Do tips from one range fit another?

No. Each range has its own tip. Connect Pro uses an 11-pin tip that does not fit Infinity, Uno or X-Connect cables, and their tips do not fit Connect Pro. Use the table above to check which range you own before ordering a replacement.

How fast do the Lightning and Micro USB tips charge?

On Connect Pro, the USB-C tip carries up to 100W, the Lightning tip up to 27W and the Micro USB tip up to 12W. Only USB-C reaches 100W.

Do magnetic cables transfer data?

Connect Pro transfers data at USB 2.0 speed, which is 480Mbps. That is fine for syncing and backups. If you move large files or need video output, use a direct USB-C cable for that job.
